Two-day road bike epic with “Los Brochachos” to despedir del soltero, Nicolas. The trip gave us the opportunity to climb the segment from Armero to Manizales (90kms and 4100m), including the freshly paved portion from Murillo to Letras which passes over 4000m at El Sifón just below the summit of Nevado del Ruiz.
Team: Nicolas Serrano, Juan Rodriguez (Kangu), Felipe Muñoz (Campy), Fredy Monroy, and Camilo Delgadillo (Flaco)
Day 1: Bogotá – Guayabal de Armero
Highlight: Two monster descents with particularly incredible views (ie Curva del Angel) during the second as you descend from Vianí to the Magdalena river at Cambao.
Day 2: Guayabal de Armero – Manizales
Highlight: Completing one of the longest climbs in the world, Armero to el Sifón, 90kms and 4100m with a great group of friends. Ripping the descent from Letras to Manizales at over 50kms/hr and arriving exhausted but overjoyed to Termales del Otoño to soak in the hot springs with recovery beverages before heading to Manizales for some disco shenanigans.
